Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for an independent contractor freelance content writer to assist the media practice group in generating weekly content for business development, marketing, branding, and thought leadership. The independent contractor will be tasked with generating and presenting ten article ideas a week to practice group partners, and writing five articles a week on selected topics. Articles should be focused on developments in advertising and consumer protection laws to circulate to clients and internal business partners.
Work is completely remote. The independent contractor will be communicating primarily with the partners in the Media Law group in generating and developing content ideas. Candidates near one of DWT’s offices located in New York City, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington D.C. are preferred, strong candidates based outside of those geographic areas will be considered. DWT is seeking writers who can commit to the position for at least a year or more, and who can provide some continuity in content generation.
Candidates need not be attorneys, or be subject matter experts in media law. Having a keen interest and knowledge of legal developments in advertising, media, and consumer protection laws is a plus. Current or former attorneys who are interested in developing a longer term writing career and more flexible hours encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate:
- Is skilled in writing engaging content for clients and internal business stakeholders.
- Is able to meet short deadlines and generate a high volume of content ideas.
- Is able to stay abreast of trends in the subject matter and research issues as they arise.
- Has a well-established background in a journalism, writing, or legal profession, with at least 5 years of experience.
- Has some marketing and business development experience.
Compensation is based on a fixed flat fee per month. Articles may range from 400 – 800 words, depending on the subject and coverage needed on the topic. Please note, this is a 1099-independent contractor role, and does not include standard benefits.
